Apex for construction

Bill the job as it is built, and keep what is held back.

A contractor bills by progress, not by subscription. Apex prices the tender, carries the schedule of values into billing, calculates each application by percent complete, tracks retainage until it is released, and writes every invoice to your ERP.

What applies

The functions a contractor needs.

01

Tender response

The owner's bill of quantities imported, priced line by line, with deadlines and revisions tracked.

02

Progress billing

Each pay application calculated from the schedule of values and the percent complete you certify.

03

Retainage

Held on each application at the contract rate, tracked per job, and released on the terms in the contract.

04

Index-linked pricing

Escalation clauses for steel, fuel or a cost index, with the base date and caps the contract sets.

Pay application

A pay application your project manager can check line by line.

Each line of the schedule of values shows scheduled value, work completed to date, this period, stored materials and retainage. The totals are the invoice Apex writes.

Yours

Your rates and your terms stay yours.

How you price work, mark up subcontractors and negotiate retainage is your advantage in every bid. Apex is set up to your rates and contract terms, and none of it leaves your tenant.

02

Your contracts

Retainage, escalation and change terms as written.

03

Invoices and journals recorded where your accountants work.

Agents propose, people approve

The agent drafts. A person decides.

A tender agent reads the owner's bill of quantities and drafts a priced response, and a billing agent drafts each pay application for the project manager to certify.

Every agent stops at an approval gate until it has earned its way out of one. Nothing releases cash, commits spend or touches a customer without a person saying so.

Your dataModels that read your data run inside your environment, behind your firewall. No client data reaches a frontier lab.

Start here, keep the foundation

Start with one function. Add the rest without starting over.

For a contractor, progress billing and retainage is a good first function. With jobs, customers and invoices in your Ferrata foundation, adding tender response or revenue schedules later works from the same contract records.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

What is progress billing?

Progress billing invoices a project in stages as work is completed, usually as a percentage of each line in a schedule of values. Each invoice is called a pay application.

How does Apex handle retainage?

It holds the contract's retainage percentage on each application, tracks the balance per job, and drafts the release invoice when the release terms are met. The release waits for approval.

Who decides the percent complete?

Your project manager. Apex calculates the application from the percentages they enter or approve; it does not estimate progress on its own.

Can change orders be billed?

Yes. An approved change order is added to the schedule of values as a new or adjusted line, and billed from the next application.

Can Apex price a tender?

Yes. Import the bill of quantities, price each line from your unit rates or supplier quotes, and track deadlines and revisions until submission.

Does Apex handle revenue for long projects?

Apex computes revenue schedules from your policy, including milestone recognition. Percentage of completion is modeled and on the roadmap. Your accountant owns the policy and signs off each close.

Start with Apex, or talk it through first.

Thirty minutes with Ferrata Labs on one workflow. You leave with a view of where Apex fits, and an honest answer if the sequencing is wrong and you should fix something else first.

Your pricing, approval and billing rules are your advantage, and they stay yours. Apex is configured to the way you sell and bill. You are not handing over a playbook or fitting into a template.
